South Korean companies are ready to open their production in Kazakhstan

Almaty hosts the Kazakh-Korean business forum. Representatives of the 20 largest South Korean companies came to the city to discuss the possibility of opening facilities in Kazakhstan.

According to the Consul General of South Korea in Almaty John Seung Ming, businessmen from his country are especially interested in almost all markets in Kazakhstan.

"Over the past 25 years, trade turnover has increased 10 times and amounted to 670 million dollars a year. We are glad to cooperate in the field of agriculture, in particular, in the construction of greenhouses. Kazakhstan is 27 times more than South Korea. And the population does not exceed 18 million people. You have every opportunity to activate the country's economy, but you need to improve demographic indicators. We could cooperate more in the field of education. Now about 800 Kazakhstanis study in South Korea and about 200 students from Korea study in Almaty", - said John Seung Ming.

The investment advisor at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in South Korea, Olzhas Raev, believes that there are excellent opportunities for investors in our country.

"Domestic entrepreneurs need to step up. It's no secret that containers, with goods that go to Kazakhstan, return back empty. It is possible to use it for export of Kazakhstani products. Thus, reducing transportation costs", - suggested Olzhas Raev.

The deputy chairman of the Council of Businesswomen at the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Almaty Akerkyn Yeraliyeva told about the opportunities for business development in Almaty.

"The Businesswomen's Council is actively working to support small and medium-sized businesses. The Council includes the best business people of our city. All initiatives are supported on a voluntary basis. The Council organizes similar sites between foreign and domestic entrepreneurs, so that our business is more successful", - said Akerkyn Yeraliyev in her speech.

Today there are more than 400 Kazakhstani-Korean enterprises in our country. The government provides a full package of support for foreign business.

Exemption from taxes up to 10 years, payment of import customs duties upon import of components, equipment. As well as investment subsidies, the return of 30% of the costs that will be carried out by the enterprise during the construction of production.

Since 1st of March this year, VAT exemption for import of industrial and technological equipment has been introduced. Priority industries: metallurgy, chemistry, petro-chemistry, food industry, mining, oil and gas engineering.
