WTO

The World Trade Organization was established at the conference in Marrakesh in April 1994 by the Agreement on establishment of the WTO (the Marrakesh Agreement).

Overall, the package of agreements of the WTO unites more than 50 multilateral trade agreements.

On June 22, 2015 a package of documents on the accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO was approved and submitted to the WTO General Council for formal adoption.

To obtain membership at the WTO, it is necessary to sign the Protocol of Accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Marrakesh Agreement on Establishment of the World Trade Organization dated by April 15, 1994, which includes 17 binding agreements, the Report of the Working Group on accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO, package of commitments of the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of access to the market of goods and services.

The signing of the Protocol is scheduled on July 27 of this year at a meeting of the General Council of the WTO.

Ratification of the Protocol on Accession to the WTO will be executed until October 31, 2015. Officially, Kazakhstan will be 162th member of the WTO within 30 days from the date of ratification.

NCE encourages entrepreneurs to study in detail the obligations of Kazakhstan on accession to the WTO and begin to adapt to the new conditions of international trade.

However, as noted by the President Nursultan Nazarbayev "After joining the WTO, we will not stop to promote domestic enterprises. As of now state support measures must comply with international rules".

NCE is sure that, in accordance with the request of the Head of State, the Government will work out adequate measures to support domestic business in accordance with WTO rules.
