There are no raw materials at Karaganda pulp and paper mill for the fourth day

Director of LLP “Karaganda PPM” Vadim Gorokhovsky noted that the main problem at the Kazakhstan enterprises that produce paper products is a shortage of raw materials. "90% of the main raw materials used by Kazakhstani enterprises are waste paper. Its shortage arises due to the fact that waste paper is exported to neighboring countries without control, that is, to Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan", - noted Vadim Grokhovsky. For Russian enterprises, the share of Kazakhstan waste paper is not very large, since there are relatively more needs in Russia. "The level of prices between Russia and Kazakhstan is completely different. Therefore, all waste paper is slowly moving to profit in the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan and beyond to other countries. Last year, when the government imposed a restriction on the export of waste paper from Kazakhstan, the situation on the market stabilized", - explained the director of LLP “Karaganda PPM”.
In the Karaganda pulp and paper mill, raw materials are not available for the fourth day. "This has not happened for a long time, the situation is getting worse every day. In autumn, there is always a deficit of waste paper in Russia, so demand is growing. Our waste paper, up to 80%, is immediately exported", - said Vadim Gorokhovsky. In addition, the Russian Federation is currently working on the issue of banning the removal of waste paper from its territory. "Because from Russia, in turn, a huge part of the waste paper is exported to the countries of Europe, Turkey and Iran. Of course, we can compete with Russia at waste paper prices, but our products will grow by 40-50% at a cost. But in the end, everything will fall on the consumer, ordinary citizens who use food, clothing, which is packed. We can compete indefinitely with other countries, but still our citizens are more important", - the director of LLP Karaganda PPM emphasized.
