Volatility at the foreign exchange market hinders the development of the automotive industry
Representatives of Kazakhstan's auto industry announced the beginning of its recovery by the results of the first half of 2016. "The results of the second quarter of the activities of the domestic auto industry clearly indicate that the enterprises of Kazakhstan show strong recovery signals", - said at a briefing at the Service of Central Communications the Chairman of the Board of ULE "Union of Enterprises of Automobile Industry of Kazakhstan "KazAvtoProm" Oleg Alferov. According to him, within six months of this year 3,772 units of vehicles worth 36, 6 billion tenge were produced in Kazakhstan, including freight, passenger vehicles and buses.
"If in January 2016 the volume of production of domestic transport companies did not exceed 404 units of motor units, by the end of June, we recorded a production volume at the level of 1136 vehicles. Production in the segment of passenger cars by the results of June 2016 increased by 37% compared to the same period of 2015, which amounted to 933 units", - said A. Alferov.
The output of commercial vehicles in the first half of the year "also showed an increase and amounted to 718 units".
At the same time Oleg Alferov said: "The development of the domestic auto industry was among the sectors, which was most affected by the instability at the foreign exchange market and the deterioration of the macro-economic situation". However, according to the expert, "even if such factors today, we can see quite clearly growth dynamics".
"Over half a year official dealers sold 20.8 thousand cars compared to 52 thousand units during the first half 2015. We see a decline in demand among ordinary consumers, and, above all, among the buyers of passenger cars by 60%. This was the main reason for the reduction of sectoral indicators in the automotive industry ", - stated the head of ULE "KazAvtoProm".
However, he added that "May and June are encouraging with respect to the growth of industry benchmarks".
