Timur Kulibayev: "EXPO offers great opportunities for business"

JSC "NC" Astana EXPO-2017" and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" signed a cooperation agreement

The purpose of the document - is involvement of Kazakh business in the preparation and holding of the EXPO-2017. Joint efforts will be aimed at increasing the share of local content in the exhibition services, as well as the involvement of small and medium-sized businesses from the regions.

In his speech, the head of the national company "Astana EXPO-2017" Akhmetzhan Yessimov noted that the upcoming exhibition will become a platform for global discussion and the search of key solutions in the field of green energy. In addition, the national project will stimulate the innovative development of the country.

"The exhibition has become a real national project aimed to support domestic business. The project will not only keep, but also create about 50 thousand jobs. In peak periods 14 thousand construction workers worked at the site and more than 500 pieces of equipment were used. In general, 366 domestic producers were involved in the construction of exhibition facilities and agreements for 52.5 billion tenge were concluded", - said Akhmetzhan Yesimov.

According to the head of the national company, this figure is twice more than in 2015. Preparations for EXPO-2017 has helped to create new jobs in the regions, providing enterprises with orders for the supply of products. The cost of building of objects for the exhibition from the budget was reduced to 302 billion tenge.

In turn, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" Timur Kulibayev noted the high readiness of facilities and organization of the exhibition, as well as the fact that it offers great business opportunities.

The head of NCE highlighted that long before the signing of the Agreement the NCE and the National Company "EXPO" started joint cooperation in many areas related to the involvement of Kazakh producers and tourism development. Timur Kulibayev said that domestic manufacturers signed contracts for more than 50 billion tenge, and this work will continue.

"It is important that during the EXPO in Astana will come a large number of people, and, of course, tremendous opportunities are opening up for business capital - a hotel, restaurants, various entertainment facilities, service sector. There is a very large influx of tourists from many countries - Kulibayev said. - Therefore, the domestic business has a big challenges to hold the EXPO with decency".

"Astana EXPO" has developed 73 tourist routes. Head of NCE is sure that Kazakhstan has something to show: the beautiful parks, historic sites, etc.

"For NCE tourism is one of the most important priorities in the development of business in Kazakhstan, creating a lot of jobs, giving a boost to employment in related industries, as consumption of agricultural products increases, souvenirs, clothing, commerce, tourism these are things that develop with turism. We very much hope that the Expo will be a good stimulus for the development of tourism", - said Timur Kulibayev.

The head of the EXPO-2017 has added that the exhibition in Astana - is a unique opportunity for local entrepreneurs to develop the service sector.

"EXPO gives you the opportunity to advance on the global market, to promote domestic brands, the establishment of commercial relations. We have a great opportunity to develop the tourist industry - not only entry but also domestic tourism. Moreover, we do not limit ourselves to the period of preparation and holding of the EXPO-2017. The huge reservoir of work will be after the exhibition. We are working on a detailed concept development of the territory in post exhibition period", - said Akhmetzhan Yesimov.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Presidium of NCE "Atameken" Timur Kulibayev got acquainted with opportunities for entrepreneurs in terms of business development within EXPO 2017, as well as with the content of the exhibition program.

Leaders of the EXPO-2017 and NCE "Atameken" agreed that the agreement should not be declarative. The implementation of the document, according to them, will provide substantial support to domestic business.
