The government of Kazakhstan has achieved a permit for international transit transportation of a number of goods from Ukraine to Kazakhstan through the territory of Russia.

"In connection with the appeal of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to permit international transit road and rail transportation of goods from the territory of Ukraine to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan through the territory of the Russian Federation ... according to the list in accordance with the annex, subject to the compliance with the procedure for the implementation of such transportations," - is given in the document (Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 10, 2018 No. 1412-r).

The list of goods that is attached to the order mainly includes goods, such as materials and spare parts used by Kazakhstani enterprises, in particular, transformer paper, graphite electrodes, ceramic insulators, spare parts for equipment and rolling stock. In total, the list includes 28 commodity items with an import customs duty rate different from zero, which, until this time, were prohibited for transport on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Domestic companies listed in this document will receive shorter delivery terms for a number of goods from Ukraine due to the possibility of international transit traffic on Russian territory.

Let's remind, from January 1, 2016, Russia imposed a ban on direct transit road and rail transportation from Ukraine. In this regard, the procedure for the international transit of goods from the territory of Ukraine to Kazakhstan through the Russian territory is determined only from the territory of Belarus.

The ban on direct transit from Ukraine to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, established by Presidential Decree No. 1 of 1 January 2016, was recently extended until January 1, 2019.
