This issue was discussed with representatives of business and interested state bodies at the site of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken" on September 18.

The government is considering various options for promoting Kazakhstani brands to foreign countries. To increase the recognition of the Kazakhstani brands, the Government proposed to develop basic approaches to the application of technical regulation measures for the export of the commodity nomenclature of umbrella brands ("Qazaq Organic Food", "Halal Kazakhstan", "KazMai" and "KazMeat").

Having greeted the participants of the discussion, Kuanysh Bishimov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the NCE RK "Atameken", noted that a number of manufacturers are already successfully supplying products to foreign countries, including European ones, and outlined specific issues regarding possible costs and benefits from applying these signs that are of interest to the Kazakhstani business.

After hearing the presentation of Arman Shakkaliyev, Chairman of the KTRM, on the application of the signs "Qazaq Organic Food", "Halal Kazakhstan", "KazMai" and "KazMeat" through the introduction of national standards and certification for them, representatives of producers of halal products, Kazakhstan Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (KAZFOAM) and the Oil and Fat Union have announced the need for simultaneous implementation of government support measures in the form of reimbursement of costs for organizing foreign exhibitions, certification of management systems, advertising, etc.

Participants of the meeting agreed that the application of these signs should be carried out exclusively on a voluntary basis at the request of producers and each direction requires detailed elaboration taking into account their specifics. Also during the meeting, producers of halal and organic products were recommended to submit a proposal on the development of national standards to KTRM.

Summarizing the meeting, Kuanysh Bishimov emphasized the importance of achieving mutual recognition of certificates of conformity between Kazakhstan and exporting countries.

"This will avoid the passage of double certification and will certainly motivate producers to mark their goods with "Qazaq Organic Food", "Halal Kazakhstan", "KazMai" and "KazMeat" signs. We will not achieve the desired effect without mutual recognition and reimbursement of costs for export promotion," - the NCE Board Member summarized.

In the opinion of the participants, today's meeting helped highlight a lot of problems, in particular in the production of halal goods, and create the largest dialogue between business and government agencies in the last five years.
