“Social obligations of the business shouldn’t be confused with charity” – Talgat Doskenov
In Karaganda, a republican training seminar “The social policy of companies: experience and development prospects” was held, where they discussed the role of trade unions of the tripartite commissions on social partnership and regulation of labor relations.
One of the key speakers of the meeting was Talgat Doskenov, chairman of the Committee for Social Sphere and Social Partnership of the Presidium of NPP RK "Atameken". He focused his attention on issues of corporate social responsibility.
To date, there is no authorized body for corporate social responsibility in the country, which leads to “unprofitable” business methods of charity.
“I noticed that akims of various levels, regional leaders threw the company into their requests, to help someone or somewhere. Although corporate social responsibility should be laid within the development strategy of the companies themselves. There was a confusion of concepts, government and business are not fully aware that corporate social responsibility is not sponsorship, not patronage of the arts and not charity. It is a strategy of companies to make social changes for a large group of the population, ”- Talgat Kazkenovich.
Social responsibility means a system of principles and political approaches in management and decision-making at the level of organizations, on a voluntary basis, the speaker said.
"Corporate social responsibility of business is the voluntary contribution of private entrepreneurs to the development of society, in social, environmental and economic spheres," he explained.
Talgat Doskenov believes that it is necessary to create a state structure as a direct responsibility, which will be the development of corporate social responsibility, with the strongest support of the state.
“In this regard, NCE Atameken, as a representative of business circles, should take the lead in forming a systematic approach in the development of CSR. We plan to consider the creation of such a unit within the structure of the central office, ”the Chairman of the Committee for Social Sphere and Social Partnership concluded.
