Nursultan Nazarbayev instructs to focus on standards of quality of life in regions
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev commissioned to form a new map of the country based on the standards of quality of life at the XVIII Congress of Nur Otan Party.
Head of State noted that the country still has gaps in regional development. A number of state programs are being implemented in Kazakhstan; however, people do not see results.
“The government and akims should solve social problems in a constructive way, without populism and pursuit of indicators. Each region is strategically important for us, we must form a new map of the country based on the renewed regional standards of quality of life,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In addition, the President ordered to allocate an additional 10 billion tenge for the development of small and single-industry towns in the next three years.
Earlier, Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed akims together with the Atameken NCE to draw up regional development plans. Atameken initiated country screening to determine the economic specifics of each region and identify potential niches for the development of entrepreneurship.
In pilot mode, screening was conducted in the Saryagash and Maktaaral districts of the Turkestan region, in Arkalyk of the Kostanay region, as well as in a number of districts of the Atyrau and Aktobe regions
Thus, the screening revealed that the potential of the Atyrau region for import substitution of goods amounted to 105 billion tenge. If the domestic production is increased to substitute the imports the budget revenues will be increased by 31.5 billion tenge and an additional 8,900 jobs will be created in the region.
An important outcome of screening in regional centers and major cities will be the development of interactive geo-maps with the application of potential business objects.
