First Forum and Master Class for women living in rural areas to be held in Almaty region

The first Forum for women living in rural areas of the Almaty region will be held on June 27-28 in one of the most picturesque places of the Enbekshikazakh district.

The main objective of the event is the further support of women's entrepreneurship and the development of the economic potential of rural women.

The speakers of the Forum will be the deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Atameken NCE RK, akimat of the Almaty region, the Association of Family Business.

The Forum is organized by the akimat of the Almaty region and the Council of Businesswomen of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Almaty region. More than 200 participants will gather together including heads of farms and SME managers, directors of social institutions, rural schools or colleges, representatives of rural NGOs, “green” leaders in the agro-industrial sector, youth activists.

Today, over 80% of the region’s population lives in the countryside. About 42% of entrepreneurs are women.

The organizers intend to create a platform where villagers will meet with representatives of international organizations, development institutions and potential investors in the format of B2B meetings, training seminars.

The main topics for discussion and debates are: solving social issues of women in rural areas, discussing tools for financial and non-financial support for SMEs, government business development programs, and grant programs for international organizations that allow implementing business initiatives in rural areas.

In addition, a master class on the topic “Development of women's entrepreneurship in rural regions” will be held, organized by the Atameken NCE RK with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank.

Participants are expected to receive effective training on the basics of business and access to financing: where to get start-up capital; how to get a grant or a bank loan; how to develop your business and find new markets;

You will be taught to make a business plan; find potential customers; create advertising and promote business over the Internet.

Remind that Atameken with the support of the Asian Development Bank is going to conduct free training courses in 15 regions of the country.

The course program includes presentations of loan programs (criteria, conditions, and requirements for lending, etc.) of second-tier banks and microfinance organizations participating in the ADB/Damu programme. In particular, it will focus on formation and maintenance of financial statements, understanding legal issues to start a business, proper formation and submission of documentation for obtaining affordable loans, etc.

All women entrepreneurs registered in rural areas can go on training. Self-employed women, who have been trained under the Bastau Business project but could not receive funding, can participate in training if they are interested in and have the opportunity to start/run business.
