East-Kazakhstan region hosted a free master class for women entrepreneurs living in rural areas.  The businesswomen and self-employed women had been trained under the Bastau project.

Chairman of the Atameken Regional Business Women's Council for East Kazakhstan Oblast and a qualified marketing and management consultant for the EBRD's Consultation for Small Business Programme Yelena Berezinskaya-Abilova moderated and coached the event.

Head of Non-Financial Support to Entrepreneurship at East-Kazakhstan region Marina Moon spoke about financial and non-financial support measures for businesses in Kazakhstan. ADB Financial Analyst Laura Omarova made a presentation on "The Role of ADB in Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan". Project Assistant at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Zhaniya Karmenova introduced the EBRD's SME support tools to women entrepreneurs.

Head of the Department of the Civil Service Agency for EKR Zhanna Kabdoldakyzy called on businessmen to carry out entrepreneurial activities on the principles of integrity and, if necessary, contact the Department to participate in the Business and Investment project. The manager of the Damu Regional EKR Branch Sholpan Kuatova presented the programs of support of entrepreneurship; its operator is the Damu Fund.

"I decided to participate in this great event because I saw the program, and I was very interested in the fact that there will be a lot of questions that are relevant and interesting for me: about business development and the support of women's entrepreneurship. At the moment I've received all the answers to the questions I'm interested in. I think there will be a lot of useful information there," individual entrepreneur Elmira Baissarinova from the Ulanskiy district of East-Kazakhstan region shared her impressions of the first day of the seminar.

In the afternoon, the participants talked about the interaction of small and medium-sized businesses with financial institutions and preferential lending in the second-tier banks of the state programmes of business development. Representatives of the KMF microcredit organization, Bank CenterCredit, Nurbank, ForteBank made presentations of their products to the seminar participants. Entrepreneurs asked the financiers many questions, in particular, about the collateral securing loans for villagers, about the commission fee, the procedure for selecting applicants for loans. Unfortunately, as of today, the majority of second-tier banks adhere to the pledge of real estate not older than 65 years and not further than 60 km from urban areas. But the organizers of the seminar expressed their hope that all its participants, as competent and sufficiently savvy potential borrowers in business, will be served in our second-tier banks on the principle of an individual approach.

On July 2, participants of the seminar discussed social issues of rural women, received information about grant programs of international organizations for the implementation of business initiatives in rural areas, learned to draw up a business plan for obtaining affordable funding under the state programmes "Business Road Map 2020", "Enbek", "Ondiris", etc.

Elena Berezinskaya-Abilova talked about opportunities to establish business relations and promote business through marketing, branding, PR, networking, and attendance at specialized events.

The next big information block of the second day was devoted to the basics of Internet marketing, SMM, advertising targeting.

"We have a very good program. In the future, we will draw a development map, so that there will be a certain result on the way out. We will coordinate all this, the participants of the seminar will fill out questionnaires, and after that we will make a summary analysis and think about the assistance to all these women,” the representative of organizers Nazgul Khamzina said.

After summing up the results of the seminar, a solemn ceremony was held to hand over certificates to participants, who learned a lot of new things, mastered the basic skills for planning and doing business, and outlined further steps for the effective development of their business.

On behalf of the Department of Social Initiatives of the Atameken NCE RK Nazgul Khamzina informed that the National Chamber plans to hold such events annually. Also, the possibility of using the certificates obtained at the seminar as a tool for applying for grant funding under government programs will be considered.

Remind that a free master class of the Atameken NCE RK and ADB is held in all 15 regions of Kazakhstan. The main goal of the event is to support women's entrepreneurship and develop the economic potential of women living in rural regions.
