According to the Chairman of the Board of NCE RK "Atameken", today the consumer basket to 50% consists of imported goods

"We seriously need to work on import substitution, but not for everything, namely the consumer basket. It should be as KPI in all relevant ministries. Every year it is necessary to monitor, it isn’t complicated. The consumer basket to 60% consists of food products. Out of these, 43 items are bread, flour, rice, buckwheat, meat and so on, and 40% are tariffs", - said at a briefing Ablay Myrzakhmetov at the Service of Central Communications.

According to A. Myrzakhmetov, today 50% of the food basket consists of imported products. "We should purposefully ensure import substitution for these 43 items, as we have all the conditions for that", - he stressed.

The head of NCE responded to journalists' questions about raising the prices of goods and products after adjusting the rate of tenge.

"Where imports, it is clear that price will increases. This is obvious because importers relay the value of the currency on the price of goods. But when we were preparing together with the Ministry of National Economy a statement saying that it is necessary to demonstrate social responsibility because importers have had a certain stock, which they bought at the old rate. And when the next day they are trying to make a quick profit by raising prices, I think that this is unacceptable in terms of social responsibility", - said Chairman of the Board of NCE RK.
