"Atameken" offers to postpone the introduction of the market power of electricity until January 1, 2019
The Senate approved the proposal of NCE RK regarding the amendment of the draft law on electricity and sent the draft law back for revision to the Mazhilis
The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" initiated the postponement of the introduction of market power in order to avoid increase of the cost for the electric power consumption for business entities.
Earlier the draft Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on the issues of electric power" envisaged the introduction of market power from January 1, 2016. The draft law was approved by the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and was under consideration by the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the same time, taking into account the complication of the economic conditions for business activities related to the deterioration of the global environment and devaluation of the national currency, the NCE RK "Atameken" has initiated consideration of the possibilities of postponing the introduction of the market power for electricity from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2019 year.
Taking into account the proposals of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as a result of the joint discussions with representatives of business, the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan considered the draft law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on the issues of electric power" and endorsed the proposal, sending the draft law to the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the corresponding amendments.
