Some entrepreneurs try to understate the actual cost of imports in the framework of the EAEU

Today, at a press briefing at the State Revenue Committee was reported information about the application of prohibitions and restrictions on imports of goods in the EAEU. They spread both on the rules of import and export of jewelry and other items made of precious metals and precious stones. So, for the import of jewelry to the customs territory of the EAEU or its export from the territory to third countries, foreign trade participants have to go through the procedure of examination of the batch - expertise of quality and color, quantity and value characteristics in the Assay Chamber of Kazakhstan.

This rule does not apply if the jewels were purchased for personal use. After receipt of the act of state control the tested items undergo a particular customs procedure. According to the press service of the State Revenue Committee, since the beginning of 2015 during the import and the export to the customs territory of the EAEU, it was found that 822 articles of precious metals and precious stones have not passed the procedure of state control. No other details were reported to the Committee, we note only that these cases are pre-investigated. In total, according to the SRC, this year there were revealed 29 cases of falsification of documents on conformity assessment in customs clearance of goods. These violations have come under Article 234 “Economic contraband” of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan. It is interesting that these understated items were found among the goods which some unscrupulous businessmen also understated when importing goods across borders of the EAEU, the Committee also named some potent poisons brought to the territory of Kazakhstan from Russia and China. In addition, there were disclosed attempts to smuggle arms and ammunition. Fortunately, they are rare.
