Service sector for the oil industry
Mangistau should become a major service center for the oil industry
This was stated by the Chairman of the Regional Council of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Mangistau region Zhanabay Suindikov.
"The strategy of economic development of the region, the formation of the investment policy, the future pattern of its industrial and innovation landscape - all these issues should be solved with the active and direct participation of the Regional Council. At various levels was raised the question of the transformation of Mangistau region into a major service sector for the needs of the oil industry at the Caspian Sea. Despite the fact that the current oil prices fell, these problems are temporary, and soon everything will be resolved", - said Zhanabay Suindikov.
According to him, oil industry at the Caspian Sea is a serious subject with the potential for tens of billions of dollars, the deployment of which may take decades. "All modern countries that have hydrocarbon resources, give priority to this issue, because it contains endless opportunities for business and the economy in the formation of high-tech industries, creation of new highly paid jobs, the deployment of transport and logistics, and other infrastructure facilities, mass housing and commercial construction, etc. This topic has a massive synergies", - said the head of the Regional Council.
Another important topic of our region, which was raised by Zhanabay Suindikov, is linked to the basic raw material of our region - oil. Today we should attach great importance to the petrochemical industry, as well as to the traditional inorganic chemistry and definitely high-tech light chemistry. "In our region, there are all conditions for this. We must not forget that the low density of population in the Mangistau puts such industries in high demand, as they are adequate to our reality", - he said.
According to him, the field of transport infrastructure and logistics has big future in the region. "One of the essential elements is the coastal infrastructure, and we should not focus only on the Aktau international sea trade port. In parallel, it is necessary to study the issue of attraction of investments and interests of the private sector to the creation of new ports and naval bases", - said Suyundikov.
Another important achievement is that the fourth oil refinery in Kazakhstan will be built in the Mangistau region. As you know, the three existing refineries are in Pavlodar, Atyrau and South Kazakhstan regions, they do not satisfy the market needs of petroleum products of the country. "The deficit of it is about one and a half million tonnes or 30 percent of the total market. It should be noted that the oil production in Mangistau region is about 18 million tons. And, most importantly, we have ports Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk, which can provide oil exports to foreign markets", - said the chairman of the Regional Council.
