Places to be visited by a tourist in Kazakhstan
The magazine National Geographic, which is published in Russia, published articles about the natural beauty of Kazakhstan
Recently, the Russian version of National Geographic - a unique scientific and popular geographical magazine, the official publication of the National Geographic Society (US), compiled the list of wonders of Kazakhstan.
People, who have never been to Kazakhstan, heard about "Baikonur", Chimbulak, Katon-Karagay, Borovoye and Balkhash. However, there are less promoted places in the country, that are as interesting, these places are worth to be visited by tourists", - writes the magazine.
The list includes five Kazakh wonder monuments, which the magazine recommends to visit in Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan's first miracle is Lake Kaindy, which was formed in 1911 after the earthquake. As a result of the earthquake the rocks in a mountain gorge hit the mouth of the river. Many of the old Tien Shan fir trees have died but remain standing. The bare trunks stick above the water, reflecting in fantastic shapes on the smooth surface of the lake. The water temperature in the lake is less than 6 degrees Celsius, however, it does not scare local divers.
On the second place is the monument of medieval architecture Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassaui: a place of pilgrimage of Muslims of Kazakhstan, the mausoleum was built in the 14th century in honor of the ancient Turkic poet and preacher. Tamerlane himself took the decision to build it. Now it is the main object of Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Hazrat Sultan", which includes a complex of temples, palaces, a medieval sauna and a number of mausoleums of other important people of the Middle Ages. The brick dome of the mausoleum is one of the largest in Central Asia.
The third Kazakh miracle is a tract “Bectauata”, which is located 70 kilometers to the north of the city of Balkhash. The view presents incredible beautiful cosmic landscapes with small lakes. The mountainous terrain is very different from the surrounding steppe. And there are small but very nice lakes.
In fourth place is the mosque Becket-Ata, which is located in the countryside Oglandy in Mangistau region, it was built in the 17th century. It was named in honor of the prophet and healer, who lived in the 18th century. Today, it hosts up to thousands of pilgrims daily. Its main feature is its location, in order to get inside the visitor must go down about 1,500 meters.
The fifth miracle on the list of National Geographic is the monument "Baiterek", which is located in the heart of the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The monument was started in 1996 and finished in 2002. The height of the buildings is 97 meters, and it is no coincidence: in 1997, Astana was declared the new capital of Kazakhstan, after Almaty. Consequently, Baiterek represents a new benchmark in the history of the country. At the top of it there is an imprint of President’s hand Nursultan Nazarbayev, there is a large park surrounding the monument.
The word "Baiterek" in Kazakh means a young, strong, growing tree. According to the authors of the project, it demonstrates parallel with the history of the state, which preserves its historical roots, has a strong support and aspiration to the future prosperity.
The magazine National Geographic was Kazakhstan is published in Kazakhstan from March of this year. The first issue was dedicated to the beauty of Mangistau.
