Ablay Myrzakhmetov "WTO - are standards of behavior at the market"
Chairman of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" commented on Kazakhstan's accession to the World Trade Organization
According to the Chairman of NCE, Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO - is an expression of a consistent course of the country's leadership - and, first and foremost, President Nursultan Nazarbayev, - openness and global economic integration.
"Definitely the accession to the WTO is estimated positively. Kazakhstan is open to integration ... These are certain standards of behavior: that is, we set ourselves standards to be followed. This is an investment climate, something that investors are focused on. Our economy can’t grow in any other way. Everyone understands that dispute settlement, tariff and customs policies will meet international standards. That is, we enter the club of advanced countries. In this sense, the WTO - is a definite plus", - said Ablai Myrzakhmetov.
It gives an opportunity to Kazakh producers to expand markets for their products, and instead get new technologies. However, at the same time, accession to the WTO brings a number of challenges.
"We will have to abandon such thing as a "local content". That is, we will not be able to openly lobby the interests of domestic producers, to introduce protectionist measures", - emphasized the head of NCE.
The Chairman of the Chamber noted that in the current situation, the integration within EAEU carries far more challenges than the integration within the WTO. But the test should serve as hardening of our business, letting them to gain new properties competencies and knowledge.
"90% of the goods, the economy and exporters work by these rules for a long time", - said Myrzakhmektov. - "There is a dispute. It is well-founded. Businessmen, you can’t work all the time in greenhouse conditions. Enough time has passed. You have to go out and to try. Otherwise, you will never become competitive".
As an experienced businessman Ablai Myrzakhmetov offers Kazakh businessmen to shift the focus in setting goals.
"We need to compete not with Russian manufacturers, but with " Wimm-Bill-Dann"! .. We need to compete quality wise ... Only then will we be on equal basis. Otherwise, we will constantly trudge somewhere on the margins", - said the head of the Chamber.
According to him, the only claim to the representatives of Kazakhstan, who carried out negotiations on accession to the WTO, was the closed nature of the discussions. Today, however, almost all the rules and condition are published, including the web-site www.palata.kz.
