The economic situation and contacts within the EAEU have become one of the main topics during the state visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan.

Summing up results of today’s Kazakh-Russian negotiation in Astana, Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that they discussed "issues of coordinated action in the economies of the two countries - in view of the current difficult situation".

"For this we have all the necessary tools, both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The fact of the existence of the EAEU is a huge positive factor for our country. Kazakh producers will get unlimited access to the capacious market of the Member States of EAEU. We need only to work on improving the competitiveness of our goods and services to gain a foothold in this market", - said the head of state.

The Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia "have identified a set of specific measures to mitigate the problems of the world economy".

"This is study of issues of transit through Kazakhstan, including the pipeline, joint cooperation potential in China, joint development of Caspian oil fields: Central and Khvalynskoe, cooperation in the coal industry and the transit through a new road along the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf", - said Nursultan Nazarbayev .

Separately, the two leaders discussed "the completion of the project of the road "Western Europe - Western China". Speaking of which, Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that " there is a great potential for the further development of partnership in these areas".

Russia is traditionally the biggest partner of Kazakhstan, the average annual turnover is about 21 billion. "In the current environment of falling prices, turnover reduces, I think it is understandable, and it will recover after a while", - concluded the head of Kazakhstan.

President Vladimir Putin expressed hopes regarding preservation of the activity of trade and economic cooperation despite the difficult conjunctural conditions. "Despite the difficult market situation, falling prices for major export items, currency fluctuations, after all, we must maintain a high intensity of trade and economic cooperation", - he said.

Russian President recalled that the total accumulated investments of the Russian economy in Kazakhstan is more than 9 billion dollars, Kazakh investments in the Russian economy equal 3 billion dollars. "The Russian business is represented in virtually all sectors of the Kazakh economy. 5,800 joint ventures were established and successfully operate", - said Vladimir Putin.

Next, Russian President drew attention to the "strengthening of industrial cooperation between the two countries". Another round of its development will be the opening of Russian factory "AvtoVAZ" in Ust-Kamenogorsk with the capacity of 120,000 cars a year. In addition, the assembly of multipurpose helicopters was launched in Kazakhstan.

"We have big plans on joint oil production in the Caspian region", - said Putin as well. He informed today about the signing of "a document on amendments and additions to the Agreement on the delimitation of the northern part of the Caspian Sea dated by 1998" by the Heads of the States.
