From February 1, 2016 Armenia will chair the EAEU

This was announced today at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which takes place in the resort area Burabay in Akmola region, said the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

"And after Viktor Khristenko, our Commission will be headed by Tigran Sargsyan, former prime minister of Armenia", - said the head of Belarus.

Assessing the results of the negotiations, which were held in a closed regime for the media, Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that there were discussed not only 15 issues, but also the "prospects of development of our Union".

Next Lukashenko said that at the suggestion of the president of Kyrgyzstan "were raised questions in connection with the entry of Kyrgyzstan to EAEU".

"In the near future, I think, until the New Year, these issues will be advanced, and Kyrgyzstan would not regret joining the EAEU", - said Alexander Lukashenko.

President of Belarus added that the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will take place in Moscow in December 2015. The parties agreed to determine a more precise date through diplomatic channels.

The meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council was attended by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.
