The first official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic Octavio Vargas was held in Astana - Kazakhstan
The representatives of the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs met Nurzhan Altaev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of NCE RK "Atameken". Octavio Vargas immediately noted the positive aspects of Kazakhstan: the best indicators of economic growth in the region and the great tourist potential.
Nurzhan Altaev, in turn, expressed his readiness to cooperate with Dominican businessmen.
"We practically did not interact with the business of the Dominican Republic, but now we hope that your visit will be a serious step to start this work. We are absolutely ready for this", - the Deputy Chairman of the Board emphasized.
The two sides agreed that in order to make the dialogue more substantive, it is necessary to exchange projects that may be of interest to both countries.
The trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and the Dominican Republic are relatively poorly developed, the volume of trade is insignificant.

In trade between countries, imports predominate in Kazakhstan. According to official data, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Dominican Republic in 2016 amounted to 891 thousand dollars (exports - 679 thousand dollars, imports - 212 thousand dollars). In comparison with the last year, the commodity turnover slightly increased (by 436 thousand dollars).
In 2016, Kazakhstan began exporting sodium triphosphate to the Dominican Republic for a total of 212,000 USD. So far, that this is the only article of export to this country.
