USAID holds the Seventh Central Asian Trade Forum
Forum on "Prospects for Growth: Trade, Transport and the Fruit and Vegetable Sector". The US Agency for International Development (USAID Project on Competitiveness, Trade and Job Creation in Central Asia) is holding the Seventh Central Asian Trade Forum "Growth Prospects: Trade, Transport and Fruit and Vegetable sector". The largest international event for companies and exporters will be held on October 18-19, 2017 in the hotel Rixos in Almaty, Kazakhstan. More than 500 delegates, business leaders, representatives of the public sector and industry experts from Central Asia, Asia and Europe are expected to attend.
This year, the two-day trade forum will contribute to improving the competitiveness of companies in the fruit and vegetable and transport and logistics sectors in order to strengthen competitive positions in world trade and create new jobs in the region. At the sessions, new market requirements and innovations will be considered, contributing to lower costs for the output of fruit and vegetable products to markets.
A separate panel session will focus on the introduction of new technologies, including the use of drones in agriculture, electronic seals on containers, equipment using solar energy and television cameras for border management. Within the framework of the trade forum, an exhibition will be organized where new technologies, equipment and services in the fruit and vegetable sector, transport and logistics will be presented with a view to reducing production and transportation costs.
We will provide practical support for small and medium-sized businesses through conducting export-oriented master classes to implement the requirements of international standards, practical steps and the necessary tools. Over six years, the Central Asian Trade Forum, which became a brand both in the region and beyond, was attended by over 4,000 representatives of the public and private sectors and industry experts from more than 25 countries.
Forums of the past helped to improve understanding of problematic issues related to trade and promoted the development of trade in the region. The USAID Project on Competitiveness, Trade and Job Creation in Central Asia aims to develop export capacity and create jobs in the fruit and vegetable sector and transport and logistics in five Central Asian countries. Developing the competitiveness of companies in the region and eliminating barriers to trade, USAID contributes to the establishment of a sustainable and competitive private sector.
