Reasons Kazakhs do not spend vacation in country
The citizens of Kazakhstan, who are used to travel to the Swiss ski resorts, are in no hurry to change them for Burabay and Chimbulak. The Atameken National Chamber conducted a population survey and learned about Kazakhs' preferences.
The 445 respondents helped to identify tourist regions and routes to advice the tourist business in which area to make their efforts.
Thus, 52% of those surveyed prefer the summer holidays. Sledges and snow-covered slopes are preferred by 14% of Kazakhs, while 8% gave their votes in the off-season (autumn, spring). While 18% do not care when to have a vacation.
The most popular place for vacation among Kazakhs is Burabay resort - 18%, then Lake Alakol – 15%, Nur-Sultan – 14%. Lake Balkhash and the mountain cluster of the Almaty region have 12% of votes.
Despite their knowledge of tourist destinations, 24% of surveyed Kazakhs are ready to spend their holidays in Kazakhstan. The reasons why the other respondents do not want to spend their holidays at home are different.
One of the reasons is the underdeveloped infrastructure. Thus, 13% of respondents said that there is a shortage of hotels, cafes and public WC in many areas. Another 11% are not satisfied with the service, so they prefer to travel abroad. 10% of voters are dissatisfied with high prices for air tickets and bad roads.
7% of respondents complained about weak awareness and poor transport links. Only 6% do not go on vacation due to a lack of funds.
The survey confirmed that the business community together with the state should pay attention to the development of infrastructure and services to avoid falling out of the tourist market. Operators should present their products on different platforms. This will allow tourists to choose and pay for the product online.
