72-hour visa-free transit: Kazakhstan expands list of airports for Chinese and Indian citizens
The Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Approval of the Rules of Entry and Stay of Immigrants in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and their departure from the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Rules Implementation of migration control, as well as the registration of foreigners and stateless persons illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan, illegally staying in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as persons who are prohibited from entering the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan" entered into force since January 1, 2020.
A 72-hour visa-free transit regime of entry, stay and departure to/at/from the Republic of Kazakhstan are applied for Chinese and Indian citizens travelling through Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau, Karaganda, and Taraz international airports.
The Atameken National Chamber of Kazakhstan, while developing the draft Roadmap for the implementation of the Open Sky regime, proposed to expand the list of international airports under the 72-hour visa-free regime of entry, stay and departure to/at/from the Republic of Kazakhstan for citizens of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of India transiting through the above-mentioned international airports.
Remind that since November 1, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development introduced open skies regime at eleven Kazakh airports. The regime provides for the removal of restrictions on the number of flights and the provision to foreign airlines of the fifth degree of freedom of the air in areas where Kazakhstan carriers do not operate.
