How to plant cotton?
20 percent of all training seminars of the Center of Agrarian Competence accounts for SKR
134 seminars will be conducted in the region out 666 seminars planned nationwide to improve agricultural skills of farmers. Attendees of the seminar in the southernmost - Maktaral district consider training seminars for cotton growers the most effective. And it is understandable: cotton – is one of the main crops of southern Kazakhstan, 500 thousand inhabitants of the southernmost districts of the region, are involved in its cultivation. Cotton – is one of the few crops, the harvest of which is exported, and the South-Kazakhstan region – is the only one where it is cultivated in large-scale quantities. Cotton is planted on 136 thousand hectares of land only in one Maktaral district.
The main cotton farmer of Maktaral district is the head of the department of agricultural chemistry of LLP "Kazakh Research Institute of Cotton Growing" Asanbai Tagaev. He introduces students at seminars to a new way of planting cotton, which is special. After harvesting the leftovers are not removed from the fields and deep loosening of soil at least at depth of 65 centimeters is carried out. This spring not re-plowing is carried out, but only abundant watering of soil. Asanbai Tagaev said that after such a deep moisturizing roots go deep into the ground, and the soil itself does not harden. The new method also permits to save a lot of money. According to the calculations of farmers, who have already tried this method, they were able to save about 7 million tenge per hectare.
Maktaral farmers consider such lessons as strong support for Kazakhstani entrepreneurs producing the export-oriented product, which is cotton.
Currently in SKR were conducted 13 seminars, 195 farmers were trained on methods of farming. Tomorrow is scheduled the seminar for the rural consumer cooperative "Karabulak" on growing vegetables in the open fields. 6 seminars will be held at the cooperative.
