Kazakh engineers talk about how they mastered the German experience of production

The National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" in collaboration with the Center for International Programs GIZ organize training in Germany within the frames of the program "Bolashak" for Kazakhstani engineering employees - middle managers that control manufacturing processes at the enterprises engaged in the production of building materials.

Pre-production engineer of Almaty Electromechanical Plant Sarbasov Bolat noted that he had received a lot of new knowledge through internships.

"Now we aim to adhere to the system of 5S at the factory, which involves 5 simple rules. First, it is the constant need to plan. You can’t start work without the initial planning process. Second, it is cleanliness of production. It is compliance with the rules of hygiene. Third, it is standardization. That is, all work processes should be standardized. One does not need to think of something. All technology should be detailed to avoid defects and inconsistencies of standards. Fourth, there should be the development department, which will introduce some innovations. And, fifth, each worker must be a specialist and only perform the work. We have at the production mainly workers of general profile, i.e. they know little about everything", - says the engineer.

“Certainly, these internships are very useful for engineers and technicians who work in the workplace. It was very interesting to study the German experience. We visited the companies Volkswagen, BMW, Lufthansa. They have a very developed industrial organization. We really liked the program", - said his colleague, the engineer of the technical department at the Kentau Transformer Plant Nurbol Tlemisov.

He stressed that the approach to work at the production site has changed after an internship in  Germany. "We apply visual management at the production sites. That is, one does not need to run around and look into technical instructions. Information about a particular process, technology is placed on the walls in the form of pictures and inscriptions around the plant. They serve as "reminders", - explained N.Tlemisov.

An engineer on adjustment and tests at the Ust-Kamenogorsk Valve Plant Kuat Khaydarov shared his views on the trip. "We saw a lot of new things that have not previously been used in the enterprise. There were some attempts to introduced basic principles of  5S, but when you see the result - it is perceived differently", - he said.

According to the engineer, in recent years new technologies were not introduced in the production because of the difficult situation at the enterprise: streamlining of staff, there were no orders. "Now everything is getting better, but it is too early to speak about the results. I am sure that in the near future, we will apply these new skills. Definitely, this internship served a good purpose. We saw automated production system SAPR, which we don’t have yet, there are only rudiments", - he added.

An engineer on training staff at the locomotive plant Aidos Zhunusbekov studied the experience of Germany in the dual education. He supervises the training of students who undergo an internship at the plant, studying technical professions.

"Of course, we are far away from Germany, but we are learning and improving, to bring the quality of  Kazakh products to the same  level. In Germany, students, who have practice at the workplace, get paid. We don’t pay monthly allowance. Nevertheless, students come to us willingly. Here, for example, six students passed an internship at the Metropolitan Technical College - three of them got employed after that", - said A. Zhunusbekov.

55 people passed an internship in Germany within the program “Bolashak” , including 36 in 2014   and 15 people in 2015. At the moment we are preparing documents for winning scholarships.
