The profile union told why prices for these products change so often

Due to the growth of production, Kazakhstani egg market has reached 100% food security level, but though we have plenty of it, the price increases. The Union of Poultry Farmers of Kazakhstan pointed to factors that are putting pressure on prices. According to the Union, in 2015, more than 4.7 billion eggs were produced in Kazakhstan. According to the forecasts of domestic poultry plants, in 2016 the total production of eggs will increase to 5 billion units.

"Despite the positive dynamics of growth in the poultry industry, there are problems, and one of them - it's the ultimate cost of eggs at retail (stores)", - stated the message of the Union. They stressed that in a year the wholesale price of eggs varies on average 4-5 times, according to the Union of Poultry Farmers, poultry factory now sells the eggs on average for 17-18 tenge per unit and supermarkets resell eggs with one and a half – two fold increase, due to the which the price of one egg of 1st category reaches up to 31-35 tenge. "Intermediaries have a margin, which comes to 200%. The monitoring of Astana’s supermarkets, which was conducted by specialists of the Union of Poultry Farmers, showed that the average price for one egg tray (30 pieces) comes to one thousand tenge", - stated the information.

"Involuntarily, there raises the question: why an egg that is released by a poultry farm, is several times cheaper than in retail" - asks the Union of Poultry Farmers.

In order to ensure the attractiveness of the prices of agricultural products, the Union offers to establish 20-35% margin on the selling price for the products of poultry enterprises, which are included in the list of socially significant food products. The Union believes that this measure will increase “customer’s demand for domestic products".
