Kazakhstani-Polish Business Forum is held in Astana

On 6th of September Kazakhstani-Polish Business Forum was opened in Astana. About 200 Polish businessmen representing agriculture, energy, construction, construction materials, food, chemical, mining and metallurgical, pharmaceutical products and others came to participate in the event.

The Vice-Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Khairov welcomed the guests of the capital and participants of the forum.

"We hope that the Forum contributes not only to business discussions at the international level, but also to regional cooperation. Today's meeting is another evidence of mutual interest in joint work", - Yerlan Khairov said.

The Vice Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that investments from Poland to Kazakhstan amounted to about 200 million USD, the trade turnover for 2016 amounted to 783 million USD. There are also direct flights connecting the capitals of the two countries. There are about 115 joint ventures.

"There are three main directions in the perspective of working with Poland. This is mutual trade, activation of investment cooperation, development of transport and logistics cooperation. Over the period from 2005 to 2017, 248 billion USD of foreign direct investment was invested in Kazakhstan. We are concentrating on creating a favorable investment climate", - Yerlan Khairov said.

The Vice-Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that jointly with the World Bank a strategy for attracting investment has been developed.

"To know where from and what investment we are waiting for. "Kazakh Invest" was created, which is one window for the investor. We are ready to exempt from payment of customs duties, give tax preferences, which already operate in 10 special economic zones. There are various state programs. The program of industrial development, focused on the export of finished products "Nurly Zhol" is actively implemented, as well as the program "Nurly Zher" for housing construction", - Yerlan Khairov added.

The Vice Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that IFCA will operate on the territory of the Expo, which provides special conditions for business: English law, special conditions for visa regime. Therefore, the speaker invited all present to actively participate in the development of cooperation, to find partners here.

"Representatives of Kazakhstani and Polish businesses are present at this forum, it is a good opportunity to find concrete results", - Yerlan Khairov concluded the speech.

In turn, Vice Minister of Agriculture Rustem Kurmanov stressed that today the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan is a steadily developing sector.

"Its strategy is to protect and to develop entrepreneurship, to build up the last production of agricultural products. The agrarian sector should become a new driver in the economy of Kazakhstan. A new state program aimed at demanding and competitiveness of agricultural products was approved. The goal is to increase GDP by 30% by 2021", - Rustem Khairov said.

Vice Minister of Agriculture Rustem Kurmanov added that the barriers in the UAE for cattle have been removed. About 9 thousand sheep were sent in the pilot mode. There is feedback, they highly appreciated product quality and wish to increase exports. Today Kazakhstan is one of the leaders for investment.

"We need a transfer of international experience in the field of agro-industrial complex. Our work on the development of agriculture is aimed at reducing risks in the agro-industrial complex, on new opportunities and on close cooperation", - Rustem Kurmanov said.

The Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Poland Grzegorz Tobiszowski noted that Kazakhstan for Poland is an important partner in Central Asia.

"The fact that Poland took part in the EXPO, the President of Poland visited Astana and the leading theme of all this - Energy of the future, is a good opportunity to show Polish solutions in the field of mining and renewable energy. I am sure that we can work closely together. We can offer Kazakhstan the exchange of knowledge, give technological know-how, and provide mining machines", - Grzegorz Tobiszowski said.

The Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Poland stressed that it is necessary to take advantage of the opportunity to strengthen the economy of the two countries.
