Managing Director of JSC Samruk-Energo Gani Salimzhuarov spoke about the potential of coal production at the panel session on energy and mining industry.

"In the energy sector, coal is dominant. The generation of coal is intense, as 1200 stations working with coal are being built in the world. Therefore, in the next 20 years, it will keep its position. Its advantage is the cheap energy value. In Kazakhstan, coal generation is the main source of energy", - Gani Salimzhuarov said.

The speaker also noted that LLP "Bogatyr Komir", operating in the Ekibastuz coal complex, is one of the largest enterprises in the world for open-pit mining. This company is a part of JSC “Samruk-Energo”. Today, LLP “Bogatyr Komir” accounts for 60 percent of all coal produced in the Ekibastuz coal basin and 40 percent of the total coal production in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its balance reserves are - 2.75 billion tons. The production capacity of the enterprise is 42 million tons of coal per year.

"The company plans to produce scientific research, to build a laboratory together with Nazarbayev University. We need to support and develop scientific projects",- the speaker added.

Gani Salimzhuarov stressed that coal mining every year becomes more difficult. Since the mine works are made 280 meters deep.

Participants during the session noted the importance of the mining industry in Poland. It is expected that entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and Poland will be able to implement useful projects in the field of energy at IFCA. The Polish colleagues have extensive experience in this field.
