INTERNATIONAL INVESTOR WEEK 2018: A NUMBER OF EVENTS TO BE HELD IN KAZAKHSTAN
Under the auspices of the International Organization of Securities Commissions IOSCO, the second World Investor Week 2018 (hereinafter referred to as WIW-2018) will take place in 80 countries of the world on October 1-7, 2018.
During the week, more than 80 financial regulators and interested financial market participants from 6 continents will hold various events aimed at informing about the fundamentals of investing and protecting consumers of financial services.
In support of the global initiative WIW-2018, the "Astana" International Financial Center will cover a number of major cities in Kazakhstan, namely Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Atyrau, Karaganda, Kostanay and Ust-Kamenogorsk, where they will hold events of various formats aimed at raising the level of financial and investment literacy.
On September 29-30, 2018, on the basis of the Nazarbayev University, the AIFC Investment Cup Debate Tournament will be held among the English debating clubs of the capital. The event, which will unite young people with high intellectual potential, is aimed at fostering civic awareness, developing critical thinking and engaging the younger generation in the economic processes of the state. The resolutions of the tournament will cover a wide range of investment issues that will encourage young people to participate in investment activities. Students of Nazarbayev University, Eurasian National University n. a. L.N.Gumilyov, KazSLU, NIS, etc. will take part in the tournament.
On October 1-5, Financial Literacy Roadshow, a republican campaign for financial literacy, will be held in the largest cities of Kazakhstan.:
- October 1 – Almaty and Atyrau;
- October 2 - Shymkent;
- October 4 - Kostanay;
- October 5 – Ust-Kamenogorsk.
The first part of this initiative involves lecturing for students of regional universities in order to shape the financial and investment culture of young people (presentations for academic community). Experts of the AIFC in the field of regulation of financial services, financial technologies, issuing green and Islamic bonds, as well as investing in the securities market will be speakers at the event.
The second part of the republican campaign consists of presentations for regional business, during which experts of the AIFC will talk about the AIFC opportunities for business, features of issuing green and Islamic bonds, the benefits and procedure for registering with the AIFC, etc. (presentations for business).
On October 2, 2018, an information session for the participants of the financial market, “Capital Markets and Investor Protection in AIFC”, will be held in Almaty to raise awareness of the importance of education and investor protection. Speakers from the AIFC Committee on Regulation of Financial Services and the AIFC Exchange will speak on the capital market and protection of investors in the AIFC. The event is intended for registered brokers and dealers in the AIFC, as well as for other interested market participants.
