Businessmen came to this opinion during the discussion on the platform of the Project Office of the Atameken NCE RK.

Today, several industry associations are concerned about the consequences and risks of mandatory labelling in Kazakhstan concerning food products in daily use. According to representatives of the Association of Soft Drinks and Juices and the Dairy Union of Kazakhstan, the mandatory labeling will lead to higher prices for products and bankruptcy of small and medium-sized companies.

According to preliminary estimations, losses from labelling of soft drinks per year will amount to KZT 28.9 billion, while losses from dairy products will amount to KZT 4.5 billion.

"The business is not ready for total labelling. Labelling should be considered and economically feasible," said a representative of the Association of Direct Sales of Kazakhstan.

In Russia, one code without VAT costs 50 kopecks. It is not yet known how much the codes in Kazakhstan will cost. However, innovation will also have an impact on consumers. Installation of equipment for chipping may cost enterprises several tens of thousands of euros, which will have a significant impact on consumer prices. Entrepreneurs proposed to return to the labeling of excisable goods and pilot projects. At the same time, excluding socially important goods.

The business noted that when forming the list of labeled goods in Kazakhstan, it is necessary to take into account the positive and negative consequences of the impact of labeling for each group of goods. In this regard, the National Chamber noted the need to conduct a comprehensive comparative assessment of all these factors and only then make decisions.
