Transportation in containers becomes more cost-efficient

Prospects of development of container transportation were discussed in Almaty

The Baltic, as well as Russian and Belarusian counterparts joined the discussion of the Kazakh freight forwarders.

A New History of the transit began in 2011 with the start of the transport route Chuntsyn-Duisburg. The service was in high demand. In order to meet the needs of customers, the railroad company launches new routes every year.

For 8 months of this year, it sent 196 trains with the volume of container shipping equal to 16,786 TEUs, which is almost twice more than during the same period of 2014. The main routes of container trains are Chongqing (China) - Duisburg (Germany), Chzhengzhou (PRC) - Hamburg (Germany), Chengdu (China) - Lodz (Poland), Wuhan (China) - Pardubice (Czech Republic).

There are many international companies, which have estimated the benefits of rail transit. Basically, it is the manufacturers of expensive goods: electronics, computers, automobiles and other.

As it was noted by the CEO of the Association of National Freight Forwarders of Kazakhstan Ilya Segal, at this stage during the times of the growing demand for delivery of goods by rail from China to Europe and back, it is impossible without the global awareness of market participants and shippers about the conditions of transport.

"Consignors, freight forwarders need to know about delivery time, what documents are needed, how reliable fulfillment of delivery schedule is, to whom they should apply for services and with whom to solve problems that arise along the way, who in what amount and how will be responsible for the safety and delays of cargo" , - said the head of ANFFK.

According to him, transport containers become more cost-efficient. Logistics of the container market of Kazakhstan and Central Asia allows to provide transportation with container fleet. Shortening the term of transportation of goods, the first ones reduce the delivery time of new models to the market, the second ones optimize working capital.

"The instability of the economy forces our clients to improve business performance. Therefore, interest in the new transit service will continue to grow ", - said I.Segal.

The joint transport and logistics company (JTLC) presented the participants of the meeting the target model of freight flows in 2020, JTLC is a structure created by three railway companies: Russian, Kazakh and Belarusian. JTLC operates a network of 67 cargo terminals. 5 of them are located on the state border. These are: Zabaikalsk, Dostyk and Altynkol, on the border with China; Brest and Dobra on the border with the European Union.

According to the presented model of the target, the total transportation of JTLC equals 4, 2 million TEUs (Total Equivalent Unit), which includes the transit China – EU and EU-China -12% and 9% respectively. An additional transit route of JTLC will be a transport corridor TRACECA. The forecast volume of traffic on the railways of Kazakhstan on the route through the Aktau port will be about 150 thousand TEUs. It is expected that the empty run cars will not exceed 32%. Optimization will be achieved by oncoming traffic to the east and the use of the flatcars for import and inland transportation.

President of JSC "Kedentransservice" Edil Iskakov, in turn, offered to shippers the service to provide containers in China on oneway terms (return will be covered by KDTS). He also announced the launch of container trains on new lines: Urumqi - Crosses Urumqi - Hovrino, Wuhan - Formachevo.

As part of the mixed fleet JTLC plans to improve the operating efficiency of the organization due to the loading of wagons in the direction of regions of the Russian Federation, close to the area and reduce the proportion of empty runs. This will increase the number of flights loaded up to 88%.

The introduced automated control system of JSC "Kedentransservice" allows you to ensure the provision of information about dislocation of wagons 8 times a day, as well as to ensure the most efficient cars for overseeding orders.

The system also allows for remote administration of orders and calculating tariffs and rates for the services of transshipment, terminal network, forwarding and operating.

In April 2015 in Astana was opened the Center of customer service that operates on the principle of a single window, creates the possibility of the provision of services without a client in the course of transportation and terminal operations.

On 29-30 of September 2015 the issues of development of container transport will be discussed at the joint meeting of the Committee on logistics and transportation of the Presidium of NCE RK and the Coordinating Committee on transport logistics STK “KAZLOGISTICS”.
