Intermediate results of the introduction of the dual education in Kazakhstan

To evaluate the results of two years collaboration of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" together with the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ, there was organized a conference, which brought together all parties involved in the project: German and Kazakh companies, the Embassy of Germany in Kazakhstan, regional chambers of entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Education and Science, Colleges and international experts.

"The National Chamber has its own function in this project. First and foremost, our goal is to find the social partners, employers who will be engaged in dual training. It should be noted that in our region - the East Kazakhstan region, five enterprises introduced the dual training program", - said Deputy Director of the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs EKR Rosa Bisikenova.

She added that at the conference were announced the problematic issues, which relate to mentoring and legislative changes within the project.

The representatives of businesses that provide the production base for practical training of students on the basis of their enterprises also made speeches. "We represent a group of  companies of HeidelbergCement in Kazakhstan and we cooperate with Ust-Kamenogorsk Construction College. We supervise the specialization "Industrial Mechanics" in the framework of dual education. 10 people study in our college now, who were selected from the nearby settlements close to our company. They have employment guarantee, and this will cover the enterprise’s need in specialists ",- said HR-Manager HeidelbergCement Nagima Zhambasova.

Speaking about the students, she noted that they perform well. "The feedback is very good. We can say that the students are very interested in obtaining practical knowledge", - said Zhambasova.

A student of Ust-Kamenogorsk Construction College Vadim Buirov, who undergoes internship at LLP "Promtekhmontazh", shared his impressions of the new forms of learning. "The whole point is that we have several specialties, that is, besides the fact that you get a college diploma in industrial mechanics, you get skills of three workers specialties. Education is of modular type, we study specific subjects, for example, if welding is the case, then we study the theory of welding in college and we practice it at the enterprise. When one module ends, another begins. We do not study anything that we don’t need", - he said.

The representative of the German company “Evonik Industries” Klaus Lebherts, in the branch of which Kazakh college students undergo internship, answered the question of whether there are plans to send our children to training in the parent company in Germany: "I think we can consider the possibility of introducing a program within which particularly distinguished, gifted young people can look at the company from the inside and gain experience in Germany at the head office".

"However, we must remember that not every company has such an opportunity. Large companies such as Evonik and Claas, can afford it, this will be more difficult for small companies", - he added hastily.

Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy Johnny Kramer in his own words expressed an extreme optimism. "The dual system of education is not only success story in Germany, but also a kind of an export tool. I hope that the whole process will be completed in Kazakhstan, so we can talk about the Kazakh-German success story", - he said.
