Nursultan Nazarbayev: "It is important to ensure public peace"

In Akorda under the chairmanship of the Head of State was held an operational meeting of the Security Council on the situation related to the events in Almaty

The reports of the Minister of Interior K. Kasymov, the Chairman of the National Security Committee V. Zhumakanov, as well as other members of the Security Council were delivered; report the press service of Akorda.

The President of Kazakhstan expressed condolences to the families of the victims, authorizing public authorities to provide all necessary assistance.

"Today in Almaty there was held a terrorist act, which, unfortunately, once again led to casualties. I express my condolences to the relatives of the victims; we should provide them with appropriate psychological and material support. Also within the line instruction of the law enforcement agencies it is necessary to take all required steps in terms of law enforcement in the city", - said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Head of State called on citizens not to yield to possible provocations in the information space.

"Now the police works, trying to understand who the attackers were and what purpose they pursued. It is necessary to protect the places of mass gathering of citizens, to take immediate medical assistance to the wounded measures, to conduct urgently a full investigation, to find the perpetrators. It is also necessary to inform the population of Almaty on regular basis and to ensure general public peace. It is important to prevent panic rumors, to identify provocateurs. The citizens of Almaty and the entire country should be sure that the most decisive measures are taken to restore order ", - said the President of Kazakhstan.

Following the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed the Interior Minister to go to the scene and together with akim of Almaty to take measures to stabilize the situation in the city, the Ministry of Information and Communications - to carry out timely and full information of the public.
