On 1st of December the whole country celebrates the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The holiday is celebrated from 2012.
In December 2011 at the plenary session of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan the Law "On Amending the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan" On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was adopted.
The Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was established with the aim of celebrating and recognizing the outstanding services of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the Republic.

The historical precondition and the basis for choosing the date of the holiday was the event that took place on 1st of December 1991 - as a result of the first nationwide elections, Nursultan Nazarbayev was re-elected to the post of president of the Kazakh SSR. He was the only candidate and won with 98.7% of the vote with 88.2% of voters cast.
Today Nursultan Nazarbayev is the leader of the nation, which actively supports the development of entrepreneurship in the country and pays attention to all sectors of the economy, setting tasks for the modernization of the state.
