Kazakhstan introduces safety measures against coronavirus

Kazakhstan has introduced additional security measures to avoid the spread of a new type of coronavirus, the Atameken NCE RK we inform tour operators working with Chinese routes and tourists about the following:

The Interdepartmental Commission under the Government of Kazakhstan has taken several additional protective measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Kazakhstan:

- Bus passenger transportation between Kazakhstan and China has been suspended since January 29, 2020;

- from February 1, 2020, passenger trains on the routes between Kazakhstan and China will be suspended;

- regular air traffic between the RK and the PRC is suspended from February 3, 2020;

- issuance of visas to PRC citizens is suspended;

-Kazakh Government rejected the proposal of the International Tennis Federation to relocate the qualifying matches of the Federation Cup from Dongguan of China to Nur-Sultan in the period from February 4, 2020, to February 8, 2020, and cancelled the Asian Water Polo Championship qualifying matches in the period from February 12, 2020, to February 16, 2020.

SCAT Airlines will operate flights to Hainan on January 29, January 31 and February 1, 2020, to return tourists to Kazakhstan, without taking tourists to Hainan Island. Air Astana said that passengers can return or rebook tickets to the PRC without penalties.

Also, until July 1, the 72-hour visa-free transit regime of entry, stay and departure to/at/from the Republic of Kazakhstan from China was suspended. Previously, the Committee of Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Culture and Sport RK was recommended to stop the sale of travel packages and restrict the departure of citizens and tourists of Kazakhstan to China.

At present, all travel companies operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan, working in the Chinese direction, should provide the Committee for Quality Control and Safety of Goods and Services of the Ministry of Health of the RK with the following information:

- about citizens of the People's Republic of China planning to visit the Republic of Kazakhstan (7 days before entry);

- about citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan planning to visit the People's Republic of China (7 days before departure).

As of January 29,2020, according to the interdepartmental commission, cases of coronavirus infection are not registered in Kazakhstan.
